Window Blinds

Window blinds are generally coverings for a window that are usually attached to the interior side of the window.

They are called window blinds because they limit sunlight, or blind people from seeing through your windows.

The following paragraphs will discuss some of the different types of window blinds.

First there are a type of window blinds commonly referred to as slat blinds. These window blinds consist of several horizonal slats, usually made of metal or vinyl.

The slats are connected with string and are put together in a way that twisting a stick, or adjusting the strings, will allow the control of how much light is allowed to pass between the slats of this type of window blinds.

With this type of slat blinds, it is often possible to raise or lower the window blinds by pulling a string.

Venetian blinds are a type of slat blinds that are often made of metal, plastic, or stiffened fabric, and the slats are vertical. Like with the slat window blinds, the venetian window blinds can be adjusted by using a cord to expose the entire window, or by twisting a stick in order to adjust the amount of sunlight that will be allowed in the window.

Finally, there are a type of window blinds called Holland blinds. These window blinds are sometimes referred to as roller shades, because Holland blinds are one solid blind that rolls up and down, as opposed to slats that open and close. Holland window blinds are commonly made of:

  • wood
  • bamboo
  • other natural materials

No matter what type of window covering needs you have, window blinds can be your solution. There are several types of window blinds available to suit any window covering need. Shop around, and decide what type of window blinds are best for you!
